Data Governance Definition
Data governance is the collection of methods, regulations, roles, tools, and systems that are used to make sure data within an organization is utilized properly.
Data governance helps decide who gets to work with what data, what that data is, the tools that are used with that data, and the scenarios and settings in which the data is allowed to be used.
These processes help maintain quality of data and ensure that all of the necessary information stays as secure as possible. Governance strategies are decided ahead of time, so that when the data or data collections come around, everyone in the organization knows what their role is and what to do with that data.
Governance allows an organization to efficiently, properly, and securely use its information and data to its full potential.
