Data Access Definition

Data Access

Data access is the authorized permission and ability to collect, inspect, adjust, copy, and transfer data from IT systems.

This includes how users get access to the data, where it is located, and who owns or is in possession of the data.

Data access enables users to retrieve, inspect, change, copy, and move data between systems, servers, and machines. Organizations must develop defined processes and systems for enabling or disabling data among users.
